The Japanese Godzilla (unofficial name Wiangel) is a dragon fruit that we bought in Surinam. The owner told that it comes from the jungle. For a long time we didn’t knew the official name, so we called this one Wiangel. Thanks to a tip from a fellow dragon fruit grower, we now know that it is the Japanese Godzilla. The branches are very robust and have a green-gray tint. The flowers have different pistils and stamens compared to other dragons fruits. The plant is self-pollinating. The fruits are around 300 grams and have a more round shape. The outside is purple and the pulp is dark purple. The taste is between the taste of the Natural Mystic and the Surinam Red (unofficial name). After harvesting, the fruit of the Japanese Godzilla can be stored longer than the other dragon fruits in our collection.
