Why a tropical fruit basket?

Super fun as a gift, a tropical fruit gift basket, but also as a thank you of course or to support someone. There can be several reasons to give a fruit basket. Besides the fact that it is nice to give someone this gift, it is also very healthy. Of course, you can also compile it yourself and use it for your own use of course. Not all (exotic)fruits can be put together in one basket – please be aware of this

Can I put all the fruit together in one basket?

Not all, unfortunately. Some fruits naturally produce more ethylene gas, and a fruit also releases more ethylene gas as it ripens. The problem in this case is that the gas also ripens other fruits faster, which can cause them to rot a lot faster than you might expect. On the other hand, sometimes it can also be advantageous to put some fruits together in order to speed up the process. Just be aware of the fact that it can happen when you create your own a exotic fruit basket.

Which fruits are best kept alone?

Because exotic fruit gift baskets are often combined with regular fruit, we have made an overview below of what you should not put together.

  • Apple
  • Pear
  • Banana
  • Mango
  • Passion fruit
  • Peaches
  • Plums
  • Nectarines

Storing fruit in the fridge?

One of the most common mistakes in the kitchen is whether or not to put fruit in the fridge. That is also difficult, but we are happy to explain it. Place exotic fruits such as banana, mango and melon on the counter or in a bowl. It is also best to store all citrus fruits here (but if it is very warm, you can put them in the fridge).

Most fruits, however, last the longest in the refrigerator, such as apples, pears, peaches, kiwi, grapes, strawberries, currants, cherries and raspberries. You can also put it on the fruit bowl, but then it simply doesn’t last as long.

The reason why we don’t offer any fruit baskets

Our fruits are shipped all over the world, so we don’t offer a standard exotic fruit basket. If we offer a basket, we have to pack and ship the fruit all together, which we do not want to do because of the ripening process which will take place then. In addition, sending baskets (due to the size) is often very expensive. We therefore recommend that you purchase a basket yourself and fill it yourself with any (exotic) fruit. Of course we always want to give advice on how you can best fill your tropical fruit basket. Feel free to leave a comment below or send us an email for advice.
